Boof and family, I was so sad to hear of Elaine's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Elaine at the Southland Times for seventeen years. (We have all seen the sad demise of the Southland Times from the dramatic changes made by Fairfax Media).

Elaine was one of those quietly exceptional people, and someone who always put everybody else first. It was a privilege to work alongside her at the Southland Times. She brought laughter and joy to every day. Thinking of all her family - who she loved and adored so much - at such a difficult time.

She was a beautiful kind and helpful person and often made me laugh whether we were working together at the Times or I had to ring her over missed papers at RJ.
