Boof and family, I was so sad to hear of Elaine's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Elaine at the Southland Times for seventeen years. (We have all seen the sad demise of the Southland Times from the dramatic changes made by Fairfax Media).
Elaine was such a beautiful, kind and helpful person. It was a pleasure to meet Elaine and yourself on the Bowling green in these later years. Elaine was loving her bowls. My thoughts are with you all at this very sad time.

Boof and whānau. My heart broke when I heard of Elaine's passing. She is an incredible, one of the very best. Her smile, her honesty, her laugh, her kindness, all qualities that made her her. Martin and I are sending our love your way.

What a shock I got to read Elaine’s notice.
