So sorry unable to attend memorial service for Brent because of illness. As a family we are forever grateful to have had Brent and his family in our lives. The caring, unselfish friendship he extended to us is treasured. As well as memories of great times, Brent's legacy remains on Ruapuke Island by way of the two buildings he created for us - namely the home and woolshed as attached photos. His workmanship was second to none. It was my absolute privilege to have taken Brent and his family members to Ruapuke last year which enabled him to share with them his love of the Island. You fought a galant battle my friend and have earned your rest. Thank for the treasured memories.

Hi Brent, cousin ... you are gone but we'll catch up with you at the memorial in Invercargill. I remember so many childhood memories - smoking, drinking and swearing etc. (the good old days) - I don't do these things as often now or not at all (LOL). Ruha and I were so delighted to see you when we were over in OZ - Commonwealth Games 2018 (Gold Coast). It's such a loss, sad to see you go so early. RIP Brent. Sending hearts from Rolleston, NZ. Much love, Nigel, Ruha and Kahu.

Dear Brent, my beautiful boy…. I am so honoured to be your aunty! Every note and all our conversations over the years with you, filled my heart. From the first time I met you 49 years ago! I loved your strength and courage. Your deep ties to your children, grandchildren, and family. Know always that your beautiful wife and kids will be fine, because of your amazing skill to have prepared them for the future. You have passed on those wonderful teachings to them! Uncle Lester, you and your Mama will be together. I feel all your spirits from time to time…..and we will all meet again. I truly believe that my sweet boy. So onward to that next adventure. Thank you for being in my life and my world, you will forever be on my mind and in my heart. Love Aunty Donna xx

Brent, you have been a great work and best friend over the last 30 plus years. We had had some fantastic holidays away like Raro and the Van tour around the East Coast up the North Island. You helped us with many things around our place on Steel Road, and the numerous parties at your place and ours (still sorry for the paua mess which ended up all over walls and floors). Great boys time on Ruapuki with Toe, Harry and Co. I caught up with Toe and wife last weekend at the bank, had a yarn for about half hour about the great times we had over the years. Great memories will live in our hearts forever. Rest easy our good mate until we meet again for a little party. LOVE TRUCK AND DOT

To Brent, my friend and most of all my son-in-law. I will never forget you and the good times that we had with Sumo (Otene) and Truckie. We all stuck together the 4 of us. Thank you for all you have done for me and my family. There wasn’t a day that passed that I didn’t think of you, and I will miss you dearly. I will always remember the good times that we all shared together. Fly high, and rest easy my mate and my son in-law. Love you always and forever🙏

My beautiful husband Brent - was the kindest, most caring, and intelligent man a woman could ever hope to find in a lifetime, and to have received such an extraordinary gift of becoming his wife, his best friend and sharing in all those beautiful years with him – How blessed and how lucky was I. I am eternally grateful.
