After a long battle, Allan fought to the end. Passed away with family by his side on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, aged 70 years.
Soulmate of Sandra (hun). Cherished father and father-in-law of Keri and Allan, Antoni and Courtney, and Amber and Mark. Cherished grandad of Ante, Jade, Zack, Jacob, Mikayla, Macy, Pippa and Noah, and Great-grandad of Alby.
Dearly loved son of the Late Allan William & Glamis Rose Gerken (Turner). Much loved brother and brother-in-law of Sharon, Barbara, Garry (aka Bill), Debbie & Vickie. A treasured uncle to all his nieces and nephews
The family would like to say thank you to the staff at Hospice Southland, Otautau Medical Centre and Winton Pharmacy.
A service to celebrate Allan’s life will be held at the Ascot Park Hotel, Invercargill, on Monday, 28 September at 1.00 pm, followed by a convoy to Otautau Cemetery. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Southland in Allan’s memory would be deeply appreciated. A donation box will be present at Allan’s service.

To Sandra and family, very sad to hear of Gerks passing, the best flatmate, workmate, and all round good bugger for sure. Lots of memories from our early days in Otautau . Pool ,snooker and antics in the 70s. Thoughts are with you all. Heaven will be full of humour for sure. Time to rest mate.
