Heather was the last surviving child of the late Earnest Fallow and Jessie Fallow (née McKenzie) and was preceded in death by her three brothers, Earnest, Kenneth, and Norman. Wife of the late Mervyn Gavan. A much loved mother and mother-in-law to Margaret and Joe, Colin, Shona, and Bruce. A much loved Nana and Great Nana to all of her 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Much loved aunty to her nieces and nephews and a great friend to many.

Heather passed away peacefully in her sleep on 20 February 2026 in the care of Bupa Ascot Care Home. As the last of her generation, Heather carried the torch and told the story of those who went before her. Heather will be dearly missed.

A short service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, 24 February, at the Southland Crematorium.
