It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Basil on Wednesday the 19th of January 2022.

A much-loved husband and friend of Jennifer for 64 years, deeply loved and respected father of Karen Rowe, Joanne & Mark Long, Michael & Christine O'Byrne, Cushla Roberts* & Graeme Lilley*, and Kathy & Greg Hunter. Loved Grandad of Jolene & Chris Cullen, Brendan Keller, Gareth & Carly Long, Alana & Richard Slade, Olivia & Aaron Waite, Dena & Kieran Appleby, Ashlee Roberts & Dallas Emery, Gemma & Johnny Tawhara, Taylor & Markus Woutersen, Morgan Hunter, Connah Hunter & Lucy Hopping, and his 10 great-grandchildren.

The service for Basil will be held at St.Theresa's Catholic church at 40 Perth Street, Windsor, Invercargill, on Monday the 24th of January commencing at 11 am. Following the service, friends and family are invited to meet at Ascot Hotel to reminisce and share memories. Messages can be sent to 119 Bourke Street, Windsor, Invercargill.

Vaccine passes will be required.

A sad loss of my special cousin Basil. The memories I have of Basil and his father Walter, are not just great, but Grand! They were men of integrity.
